Attend an instructor-led ANPD Certification Preparation course taught by NPD experts.

About the Certification Preparation Course: 

This interactive, live course held over 3 half-days is intended to increase your nursing professional development (NPD) knowledge and help you prepare for the NPD certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The course offers 14 ANCC NCPD contact hours and covers the major domains of practice found in the board certification exam: Educational Process Standards; Leadership; Ethical, Legal and Regulatory Standards; Evidence-based Practice and Research; Technology; and Program/Project Management and Process Improvement. Course participants are also provided with a comprehensive course handbook to aid in studying for the ANCC exam after completion of the course.

In addition to access to the live course, registrants will be enrolled in the NPD Certification Preparation Course pre- and post-tests in ANPD’s Continuing Education Center. It is highly recommended that you complete the pre-test before you attend the live course. Pre- & post-test scores are provided immediately on completion of each 60-question test, allowing identification of domains as areas of focus when preparing for the certification exam. After the live course, participants can assess knowledge gained by taking the post-test and comparing their scores to the pre-test, as well as view answer rationales for each question. Instructions to access the pre- and post-tests will be provided to attendees two (2) weeks before the course.

Registration Includes:

• Participation in the instructor-led virtual live course held via Zoom
• Access to pre- and post-tests in ANPD's Continuing Education Center. Participant review of the test questions and answer rationales will be available for 90 days after the live course completion.
• Access to the course handbook for use during and after the live course for 90 days
• Awarding of ANCC NCPD contact hours with successful completion of the course.

Registration for this course is limited to 35 participants. Course registration for available seat openings is secured with received payment.

Target Audience:

• Registered nurses preparing for the specialty certification exam in nursing professional development (NPD), offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
• RNs desiring additional education in nursing professional development.

Description: This program is intended to prepare participants for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty examination in nursing professional development by increasing the participant’s foundational nursing professional development knowledge. The content of this course is designed in congruence with current ANCC NPD-BC Testing Content Outline that applies to individuals testing on and after February 26, 2025. Please see ANCC’s website for more information. 

 Outcome:

• Short term measurement: Upon course completion, 80% of participants will report an increase in their knowledge of the content found of American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty examination in nursing professional development.
• Long term measurement: Completed long-term follow up survey results will indicate that 85% of participants who took the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty exam in nursing professional development will report successful certification was achieved.

Successful Completion:

• This course awards a total of 14 ANCC NCPD contact hours.
• To be awarded 12 ANCC NCPD contact hours for attendance of the live course, participants must:
  • Attend the live course in its entirety. Partial credit may be awarded for full attendance of a single day (8 hours Day 1, 4 hours Day 2).
  • Complete the online course evaluation within 30 days of the live course completion
• To be awarded 2 ANCC NCPD contact hours for the pre- and post- tests, participants must:
  • Complete the pre-test and the post-test with answer rationale review within 30 days of the live course completion.

ANPD offers Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Certification Practice Exams for those preparing the nursing professional development specialty certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).  Each of the NPD Certification Practice Exams offers 75 multiple choice questions with answer rationales to support evaluating your knowledge of the content domains found on the NPD specialty certification exam: Educational Process Standards; Leadership; Ethical, Legal, and Regulatory Standards; Evidence-Based Practice and Research; Technology; and Program/Project Management and Process Improvement. Fully online and available at your convenience, taking both NPD Certification Practice Exams I & II provides 150 unique practice questions that primarily focus on NPD concepts framed in case-studies and real-world scenarios. Nursing Professional Development Certification Practice Exam II Description

The NPD Certification Practice Exam II is designed to provide the participant with exposure to the content and types of questions that may be encountered on the NPD specialty certification exam from ANCC. Each practice exam item is categorized by testing domain and provides an answer rationale and reference for the question content to serve as a study aide. The percentage of questions in each domain on the NPD Certification Practice Exam II reflects the ANCC NPD specialty exam domain percentages. Scoring will be provided for each testing domain, allowing the participant to evaluate their knowledge in each domain separately. Participants can take the practice exam in their Continuing Education Center account as many times as desired for 90 days after registration.
