About the EBP in NPD Course:
This interactive e-learning course provides nurses and Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioners with the knowledge and tools to exemplify the NPD throughput of Inquiry and the competencies associated with Standard 14 in the NPD Scope and Standards of Practice.
Each module builds upon the steps of the evidence-based practice (EBP) process. The final module connects engaging in EBP and championing EBP in the NPD role.
It is recommended that the modules in this course be completed in order, but they can be taken in any order.
Intended Audience: Registered nurses and Advanced Practice Nurses practicing in the specialty of nursing professional development, registered nurses functioning as nursing education instructors, those who facilitate education of healthcare professionals, and nursing faculty.
Outcome: Upon completion of the course, 80% of learners will report that the course increased their knowledge of topics that are relevant to their current or future practice.
Successful Completion: Awarding of contact hours is commensurate with successful completion of each individual session.
To be awarded ANCC NCPD contact hours, participants must:
- Complete individual modules in their entirety
- Achieve a score of 80% or higher on a post-module quiz
- Complete the individual session evaluation(s)
Continuing Education: Association for Nursing Professional Development is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
ANCC NCPD Contact Hours Awarded: Learners can earn up to 6.5 contact hours for completion.

NPD Practitioners will explore translating a PICOT question into results through identification of synonyms, search techniques, databases, and other resources to support evidence-informed decision-making.

Appraisal and Synthesis
Strengthen your ability to evaluate the reliability, validity, and applicability of evidence to determine its quality. This module guides NPD practitioners through identifying levels of evidence, critically appraising, synthesizing, and combining evidence with clinician expertise and patient/learner preferences to make practice recommendations.
